Welcome.
I grew up playing board games with my brothers and sister. Being the oldest, I often had an advantage in strategy and skill, but luck didn’t always go my way. One of our favorite games to play was Monopoly, and we’d sit for hours rolling dice, collecting rent, and trying to swindle each other. We’d laugh, get frustrated, and sometimes we might even win.
I’ve found that while the board games have gone away, the games we play in relationships with other people have persisted. They actually have a lot in common with those childhood games but the stakes are higher and costs can be painful. Winning and losing mean something different now than they did when I was a child.
Starting on Mother’s Day (May 12) and running through Father’s Day (June 16) we’ll be looking at the “Games We Play” in our lives. Through Bible teaching and encouragement I hope we can all learn to play well together and become more the people God desires. Here’s a quick rundown of each week:
LIFE: Loving While Living
JENGA: When It Falls Down
CHUTES AND LADDERS: Ups and Downs
TAG: Passing it on
BATTLESHIP: Fights and Wounds
FOLLOW THE LEADER: Leading to the Future
Come and share in worship as we make God known each week at Christ’s Church.
