Connecting
at Christ’s Church at Georgetown
Connecting
at Christ’s Church is all about building relationships with other people.
Why? Two reasons:
So
that we can support and encourage one another as we go through life, and
As we encourage each other, we grow in our relationship with God through His
Son, Jesus.
In
early letters to communities of believers, The Apostle Paul wrote of the importance
of community and mutual encouragement many times. Among other things, he said,
“I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you...can teach
each other,” and “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to
be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to
prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son
of God and become mature… .” (Romans 15:14 NLT, and Ephesians 4:11-13
NIV)
Connecting at Christ’s Church at Georgetown is simple. You start by filling
out a first-time visitor’s card at the name tag kiosks. If you do that,
the next week you can print out your own name tag and people can begin to get
to know you. If you participate in 67 Jumpstreet with your children, you’ll
find common ground with parents of similar-age kids there. Involve your kids
in Wednesday night activities and yourself in an adult Bible study or class,
and you can make friends , growing together, sharing good times, providing accountability
for one another, supporting one another when life is tough—becoming a
community of people discovering new life in Christ here.
You
can connect at Christ’s Church by keeping the office updated about address
or phone number changes, and about life changes, illness, or hospitalization.
We want to do life together, to be there for you as your church family. It’s
a two-way connection, however, and we need you, too. We need you to share your
talents, abilities, and resources with us. We want to want you to commit to
this congregation, becoming a member here. Leave your handprint on us.
A
powerful way to connect at Christ’s Church, to leave your handprint, is
to volunteer in ministry. Volunteer to help in children’s or student ministry.
Work as a hospitality volunteer or lead a small group Bible study. Volunteer
for choir, or work behind the scenes to help produce our worship service on
Sunday mornings. Participate in our spring and fall Days of Caring, or in other
mission outreach efforts. Be open to leadership opportunities that God may call
you to fill here. Some 40 years ago, people cared enough about a future generation
that they planted a church called Christ’s Church at Georgetown. Now,
as you connect in this church, you can help shape it for the future. We’re
in this adventure together.
